What should I do to prepare for my first class?

What is the parking situation?

Carmel: Parking at the Carmel studio is easily available in the shopping center parking lot in front of the studio.

Monterey: Carmelbarre Monterey is located next to a public parking lot, which is 50 cents/hour (pay at machine). There is one hour street parking in front of the studio. Two hour parking is available one block away to either the north, south, or west. Please pay close attention to the parking signs as parking patrol is very regular in this area of town. Please arrive with enough time to find parking and get situated for class. PLEASE NOTE – Monterey studio doors will be locked during class. Please ensure you are on time.

Does Barre really work?

Yes, yes, yes! Since opening our doors three years ago we have heard about amazing results from our clients – from less aches and pains, more flexibility, changes in muscle appearance and more!

What is the studio etiquette?

In order to keep our studio humming along, and those around you happy, please keep in mind these simple etiquette guidelines while in class.

Online sign up. Please reserve your space in class ahead of time. Classes will fill up quickly and we want to ensure everyone has a space. We have a great app that makes it very simple to sign up on your phone as well. Don’t like phones or computers? No problem! Please call, 831-238-9766 or email the dates you plan to attend class and we’ll get you in.

Arrive on time. Please make sure to arrive at both studios 10 minutes before class time to find parking, set up your spot and get situated. For your safety, we will not allow anyone later than 10 minutes into class. If you do arrive late, please complete 20 knee-lifts before joining in with the rest of the class to get your body warmed up.

Cell phones. Please keep phones on silent in your cubby and notify the teacher if you are expecting an urgent call. Dedicate your workout time to you and stay focused.

Gum. Please do not chew gum during class. We encourage deep, full breaths while working hard and think you will breathe easier without it.

Grippy socks. Please wear grippy socks (to keep from sliding) and to maintain your balance during class. You can purchase a pair at the studio or around town.

Shorts. We do a lot of curling, tucking, bending and kneeling during class – please wear capris or pants to keep your knees cushioned and happy.

What is the cancellation policy?

Please pre-register for classes using the online sign up. In respect to others attending class, or on a waiting list, please make cancellations two hours prior to class start time (cancel by 9 PM the night BEFORE a 6 AM class) to avoid a fee ($15 charge for auto-renew clients, class charge for class package holders).
