From Ballet Bar to Fitness Barre: CarmelBarre has re-shaped my figure and boosted my energy

The fitness classes at CarmelBarre are a must try if you’ve ever struggled to find the right fitness class, and more importantly a routine you can stick with. Ballet was a significant part of my life growing up and I was extremely dedicated to classes, rehearsals and performances at least four times a week. I struggled for many years after I stopped dancing to find the right type of fitness program that motivated me and provided results. I would occasionally go to a gym class or work with free weights and while I would feel great afterwards I just didn’t have the driving motivation to make it often, let alone establish a consistent fitness routine. My gym clothes put on a lot of miles only because I kept them in my car, driving them around town with the intent of going to the gym, but rarely ever putting them on let alone walking through the front door of a fitness center. I realized I was spending more time talking myself out of going to the gym than actually going! My experience at CarmelBarre has changed that all. After only a couple classes I was hooked. The instructors emanate the perfect amount of energy while creating a light-hearted space that keeps you motivated and encouraged through class even when your thighs, calves, and abs burn like they’ve never burned before. I appreciate the fact that the instructors actually navigate the room to provide individual attention, correcting form to ensure you are getting the most out of your workout and to avoid injury. This is my 7th month at CamrelBarre and I am seeing noticeable results and actually look forward to class. It’s always a great day when you try on those pants you’ve had tucked away for years in hopes you can fit into them again, and you comfortably zip them. It’s like having a new wardrobe and one you feel fantastic in. Friends and colleagues even notice I exude more infectious, positive energy—a well-known health benefit of regular exercise.

If you have never tried barre class before, particularly if you’ve ever felt challenged to find the right fitness program, I highly encourage that you give it a shot. See you in the studio to get your barre on!

I could not get up off the ground without a struggle using a chair and maximum effort… now I can hold a plank for a whole minute, which I consider a miracle!!!

I’m a 70 year old women who thought I was in pretty good shape, until my “wake up call”. I could not get up off the ground without a struggle using a chair and maximum effort.

I realized I had no core or leg strength.
I started barre 3 days a week 6 months ago and can’t tell you enough how much stronger I am.  I couldn’t get through a whole class at first, but slowly my core, leg strength and balance have greatly improved.  I can even hold a plank for a whole minute, which I consider a miracle!!!
I have found a wonderful place to exercise and encourage anyone over the age of 60 to try this.  You will not feel out of place, all the exercises can be modified, you will notice an improvement in your strength in just a few weeks, it really does work.

Carmel Barre has been so beneficial for my body and golf game. The exercises target the exact muscles a golfer needs to strengthen for a solid swing. “Buns. Thighs. Core” couldn’t be more spot on. A strong concrete lower body combined with stable core and flexible upper body is exactly what I needed to progress my game. I’ve been going for over a month and have yet to take the same class twice. They are always unique, challenging and motivational. It’s surprising to see so many changes in so little time. My stronger muscles have alleviated lower back/hip pain, giving me more energy and even added a few yards to my drive.

I’m in my mid 50’s and began at CarmelBarre by taking a free class for locals. I loved it so much, I bought an unlimited month special for new students. I went as often as I could and got to know different class types and teaching styles. I was hooked. I signed up for the full year. Last week, I took my 100th class!

CarmelBarre has made my 2017 New Year’s resolution of renewing my health and fitness an attainable goal. Because the classes are energizing and upbeat, they keep me interested and working hard. In just 3 months I’ve had rapid results. Friends and family have noticed my increased energy, strength and tone.

The teachers are aware of injuries I sustained in a car accident 10 years ago. They are helping me build strength on my weak side while teaching me how to keep my body safe from new injury. Whether a student is new to an exercise program, has physical limitations, is an experienced athlete, or anywhere in between, every class has modifications to help each student reach for their personal best.

With the help of CarmelBarre, I am steadily reaching levels of fitness I never imagined would be possible after my car accident.
